About Sqdef
Sqdef is a tower defense game for the GP2X handheld. The goal is to prevent enemies from getting from one side of the map to the other by placing towers along their way. There are over a dozen different buildings with upgrades, tech research, and a whole lot of maps! Sqdef also has a built-in editor that lets you make your own maps and share them with others.
Sqdef won 1st place in the GBAX 2007 Coding Competition, and has the honour of being one of the GP2X Wiz’s built-in games! :-)

Donations
Sqdef is a freeware game, and many hours went in creating and improving it. If you enjoy playing Sqdef, please consider making a PayPal donation to encourage my work!

Any amount is appreciated, and in return I will add your name to the game’s credits beginning the next update.

Map Packs
Sqdef map packs come as ZIP archives. Installation is done by extracting the archive to Sqdef/Maps. All maps were created by their respective authors:
Make a map pack and I will put it up here for others to download :-)

Screenshots
The game in action:

Sqdef 1.4 added map bridges, making new kinds of map designs possible

Every game needs a title screen!

Trappers are great for breaking up tightly knit waves...

...while Armories boost every in-range tower's damage by 50%, making it easier to take out those tough bosses :-)

Showing the upgrade window and over it the main HUD, which gets toggled on and off.

You can make new maps with Sqdef’s editor! You can zoom in to place stone tiles.

An upgraded Scythe can deal some serious damage, especially if helped by Armories :-)

A max-upgraded Ice Turret enhanced by 11 Armories.

Old Screenshots
And here are a couple of screenshots from older versions of Sqdef:

The first playable build! The towers shoot, and miss.

At this point everything worked as it should have.

I eventually picked darker colours that are easier on the eyes.

This is how the GBAX 2007 release looked like.

Version 1.2 changed the colours (bad!), but brought the map editor (good!).

Version 1.4 improved the graphics and added bridges.
